A Small Business Experience.
"Holmes on Homes" is a TV show which gives intriguing insights into home renovation. How it should and should not be done.
A kitchen renovation was on our list. We got an estimate from a young man named Matthew McCowan, he was referred to us by a friend.
He gave us an itemized list of work needed; we were to provide the replacement cabinets by choice. The work included floor and wall preparation, ceramic floor tiling, assembly and installation of cabinets and counter top, finishing wall surfaces and trim, and an understanding that if additional work appeared necessary once he got started it would be discussed and added to the bill.
We were impressed by the man; he was friendly, focused, professional, and thorough in his estimate, which was fine by us. He was very busy with other projects, but would integrate the jobs, working in an organized way, and gave us a completion date. We hired him.
He was unbelievably tidy during the process and the daily clean up was as an important element as the work itself. His work method was efficient and precise, and there was a strong sense of team work with his employees. The end result was very satisfactory, he was on time, kept his promises and the price was right.
I find it easy to connect Matthew's way of conducting his business with some of the business practices I have been alluding to in the Articles published here. As I mentioned, he came as a referral and everything else fell into place.
You can't beat that. And he did it right.
