Optimum Level of Performance.
Optimum Level of Performance (OLP), so what is it? Mostly it is associated with athletes, sporting and physical activities. Here it is applied to business and personal development. I have been implying in other articles that the two elements - a growing business and personal development are complimentary and perhaps necessary components for a successful enterprise.
OLP Defined.
A Businss definition might be that OLP is reached when additional "energy" is applied in the business but no further income or growth is evident, using these two elements as criteria of measurement. There is one caveat, that the operation is also meeting the reasonable expectation of the owner. This caveat is the link between the performance of the business and the personal performance of the owner. The emphasis is on a "reasonable expectation", this leaves room for insight and new ideas to occur. To push too hard, to be a driven personality, is to run past the life you should be enjoying - and maybe the one idea that makes a world of difference to your business success.
Defining the Purpose.
To define the purpose of a business might be a good p lace to begin. It may be a manufacturer of widgets, but really, what is the purpose of the manufacture of widgets, apart from the obvious? The "Purpose Principle" as detailed in "Breakthrough Thinking" is as good a place to start as any I know. The method of the Purpose Principle brings you to the core reason for the existence of the business and your engagement with it.
The Personal Side.
On the personal development side?
Well the key word you would be using is WHY? The first of the Seven Da Vincian Princip les is, "Curiosita - An insatiably curious approach to life and an unrelenting quest for continuous learning."
That may be the whole story there.
Over a period of time, with dilgence and dedication to the business and to your self, it will pay dividends.
